Professional Learning for New Pre-AP Leaders

Meeting the program’s professional learning requirement—and beyond.

Start your free Online Foundational Leadership Workshop.

In the first year of offering Pre-AP, at least one leader from each site (as well as all new Pre-AP teachers) must complete a professional learning requirement. This Pre-AP Leader role may be filled by anyone supporting Pre-AP implementation at the school or district and can include a Pre-AP coordinator, Pre-AP administrator, instructional coach, or any non-teaching instructional support role.

This year, new Pre-AP leaders will be required to complete the Online Foundational Leadership Workshop during the summer before starting their school year. Next year, when Pre-AP Summer Institutes resume, they’ll also have the option of fulfilling the program requirement through in-person learning.

New leaders may also register for the optional New Leader Virtual Cohort to extend their learning from the Online Foundational Leadership Workshop.

Program Requirement

Complete the on-demand Online Foundational Leadership Workshop through Pre-AP Classroom. These leadership-specific modules, which can be completed in 4-6 hours, are free and provide CEU credits.

Optional Additional Training

New Leader Virtual Cohorts

The summer before implementing their Pre-AP program, leaders have the option of joining a New Leader Virtual Cohort. Led by expert Pre-AP implementation directors and Pre-AP National Faculty, these live, online classes offer an opportunity for leaders to collaborate with peers across the country.

Leaders meet with their cohort for two 90-minute classes over the course of two weeks, with each cohort having a maximum of 20 participants. Attendees will earn CEUs after completing both classes of the cohort.

Pre-AP Webinars

From mid-June through the end of August, Pre-AP offers a range of free webinars. Webinars are hosted live by College Board staff, along with Pre-AP teachers and administrators and then recorded and posted on Pre-AP Classroom under the Professional Learning tab within each course.
