Texts Take Center Stage

Focus: Concentrating on three key areas of Pre-AP English—reading closely, valuing evidence, and noticing language choices—participants will:

  • Explore Pre-AP English 1 model lessons focusing on deep observation and analysis of texts across multiple genres.
  • Collaborate and design in-person and virtual classroom activities featuring Pre-AP shared principles and English areas of focus.

Format:

  • Workshops have a maximum of 28 participants and are facilitated by Pre-AP National Faculty.

  • Virtual workshops meet twice for 2.5 hours each class.

  • In-person workshops meet on one full day.

Fee:

  • Virtual workshops are available for private purchase by a school, district, or state. The cost is $2,500 for members and $2,850 for nonmembers. The cost of in-person workshops is $4,600 for members and $5,250 for nonmembers.

From Sentence to Synthesis

Focus: Focusing on the crafting of complex sentences as a foundation for complex thinking and communicating ideas clearly, participants will:

  • Examine foundational writing techniques, specifically at the sentence and paragraph level, that enable students to comprehend text and incorporate textual evidence.
  • Collaborate to design classroom activities featuring sentence level writing strategies.

Format:

  • Workshops have a maximum of 28 participants and are facilitated by Pre-AP National Faculty.

  • Virtual workshops meet twice for 2.5 hours each class.

  • In-person workshops meet on one full day.
