Getting Your Pre-AP Join Codes

Go to your College Board account.

Whether you’re a student, coordinator, or teacher, you’ll be working with join codes, which give students access to course materials on Pre-AP Classroom, the digital platform used for instructional materials, collaborations, assessments—and almost everything to do with Pre-AP.

Where you find your join code depends on your role.

Students

How to get a join code: Students receive a join code from the course teacher.

How to use a join code: Log in to your College Board account by going to myap.collegeboard.org, and then scroll down. Click the Join a Course or Exam button. Enter the join code that your teacher gave you. Click the Submit button. If you’re enrolled in more than one Pre-AP course, you’ll have a separate join code for each class.

Pre-AP Coordinators

How to get a join code to share with students:

  • After you place your order for Pre-AP courses and print materials, you’ll be able to go to https://order.collegeboard.org/preap to get your Pre-AP Classroom access code, under the Access Codes header.
  • Once in Pre-AP Classroom, you are authorized to create class section, or you can encourage teachers to create their own class sections.

How to use a join code: If you, as the coordinator, have generated the class sections and join codes, inform the teacher as soon as possible so that their students can enroll in the course on Pre-AP Classroom.

What else you need to know:

  • Join codes are generated per class section, not per student or per teacher.
  • A teacher with multiple sections will have a unique join code for each section.
  • Join codes are unique to the sections created for your school. Join codes shouldn’t be shared outside your school.
  • A student enrolled in multiple Pre-AP courses will receive a unique join code for each class.
  • Students must be enrolled in a class section to access Pre-AP instructional resources and assessments for every Pre-AP class they’re taking.

Pre-AP Teachers

How to get a join code to share with students:

  • If your school’s Pre-AP coordinator has already created class sections, you’ll be able to see them by logging in to Pre-AP Classroom and going to View Join Codes for Sections.
  • If your school’s Pre-AP coordinator hasn’t created class sections, you can do this yourself by logging in to Pre-AP Classroom and seeing a list of the courses you teach. Under the icon for each course, you’ll see Add section. Click on that link and follow the prompts—including the pop-up window where you’ll enter information about the section. When you’re done creating the class section, the system will generate a join code.

How to use it: Share the join code with your students as soon as possible. They’ll need it to enroll in the class section and access course materials on Pre-AP Classroom.

What else you need to know:

  • Join codes are generated per class section, not per student or per teacher.
  • A student enrolled in multiple Pre-AP courses will receive a unique join code for each class.
  • A teacher with multiple sections will have a unique join code for each section.
  • Students must be enrolled in a class section to access Pre-AP instructional resources and assessments for every Pre-AP class they’re taking.
