beginning of content:

The summer before their first year teaching a Pre-AP course, teachers are required to take part in professional learning offered by the College Board. Because of the covid-19 pandemic, the in-person Pre-AP Summer Institutes have been canceled for the summer of 2020. Any school purchasing Pre-AP for the 2020-21 academic year will receive their in-kind seats for in-person Pre-AP Summer Institutes to use in the summer of 2021, in preparation for the 2021-22 academic year.

Professional learning offerings for summer 2020 (in preparation for the 2020-21 academic year):

As part of the program requirements, new Pre-AP teachers must complete the Online Foundational Module Series.

New Pre-AP educators will also have the option to join free Virtual Foundations Cohorts, which extend learning from the on-demand Online Foundational Module Series. These live, virtual classes provide an opportunity for teachers to plan for their course and collaborate with Pre-AP National Faculty and peers.

Professional learning offerings for summer 2021 (in preparation for the 2021-22 academic year):

There are two options to meet the Professional Learning requirement: the Pre-AP Summer Institute and the Pre-AP Online Foundational Module Series. Both options provide continuing education units to teachers who complete the training.
