Due to the covid-19 crisis, our Pre-AP Summer Institutes for 2020 have been canceled. All teachers and at least one site leader must complete the Online Foundational Module Series. As an alternative to the in-person institutes, we are offering Virtual Foundations Cohorts. As the Pre-AP Coordinator, you are responsible for distributing the registration codes to teachers and leaders for registration in any of the Virtual Foundations Cohorts.

Pre-AP Foundational Learning

The summer before their first year teaching a Pre-AP course, teachers and at least one leader are required to take part in professional learning offered by the College Board. For academic year 2020-21, all educators are required to complete the Online Foundational Modules Series. Pre-AP educators will also have the option to join free Virtual Foundations Cohorts, which extend learning from the on-demand Online Foundational Module Series. These live, virtual classes provide an opportunity for teachers and leaders to plan and collaborate with Pre-AP National Faculty and peers.

Online Foundational Module Series

The Online Foundational Module Series will be available beginning July 2020 on Pre-AP Classroom and will be available to all teachers and leaders at no charge. The course-specific teacher modules can be completed in 12− 20 hours and support teachers in planning and preparing for their Pre-AP course. The leader-specific modules can be completed in 4− 6 hours and support leaders in understanding the instructional design and program requirements of Pre-AP.

Teachers meet with their cohorts twice a week over the course of two weeks, for 90 minutes each session and leaders meet with their cohorts once a week over the course of two weeks, for 90 minutes each session. Webinars will be hosted live by College Board staff, along with Pre-AP teachers and administrators, from mid-June through mid-August. All sessions will be recorded and posted.

Registration begins June 1, 2020. Check back often, as new sessions will be added based on your feedback!
