New Pre-AP Teacher Professional Learning

Due to covid-19, College Board is not scheduling in-person professional learning at this time. All professional learning for Pre-AP will be virtual in 2021.

Program Requirements

Before starting their Pre-AP course, all new teachers of Pre-AP must complete a professional learning requirement. There are two options for meeting this requirement:

  1. Complete the Online Foundational Module Series followed by at least one of the Online Scoring Modules (both available free and on-demand through Pre-AP Classroom).
  2. Attend an in-person Pre-AP Summer Institute followed by at least one of the Online Scoring Modules.

Optional Additional Learning

  • Fall Professional Learning: In these free live, virtual classes, Pre-AP educators analyze how formative assessment drives planning and instruction to meet the needs of learners. They will also learn how to apply Pre-AP resources to address unfinished learning.
    • Take Action: Unfinished Learning and Pre-AP Formative Assessments–Learning Checkpoints
    • Take Action: Unfinished Learning and Pre-AP Formative Assessments–Performance Tasks
    • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

  • New Teacher Virtual Cohorts: New Pre-AP educators completing the Online Foundational Module Series will also have the option to join a New Pre-AP Teacher Virtual Cohort, which extends learning from the on-demand modules. These live, virtual classes provide an opportunity for educators to plan for their course and collaborate with Pre-AP National Faculty and peers.
  • Online Scoring Modules: Complete additional scoring modules to further your understanding of examining and scoring student work for Pre-AP performance tasks. Scoring modules are free and available on-demand through Pre-AP classroom.
